Recognition in Teaching Award
This award will be presented annually, to a TWU faculty member within the College of
Health Sciences, who has exhibited distinguished record of teaching and dedication to
improving the teaching and the learning of their students.
ELIGIBILITY
Nominee can be any full time faculty (lecturer through professor including full-time
clinical faculty) who have had teaching responsibilities of 50% or more, for the last 3
years. Departmental chairs are not eligible.
NOMINATION PROCEDURE
1. Who can nominate?
Any College of Health Sciences faculty, students and/or alumni. Self nominations will
also be accepted.
2. Supporting Documents:
A. A copy of their current CV on the approved TWU vita template that reflects that
following:
1. A listing of courses taught, and new courses developed, including any course
developed using distance delivery modalities for the past 3 years.
2. Other evidence reflective of excellence in teaching, such as workshops, clinics,
service related to teaching, and advising students. Examples of innovative
teaching methods or process
B. A written explanation of how the nominee facilitates learning and develops his/her
excellence in teaching, including a statement of the nominee’s teaching philosophy in no
more than 1500 words.
C. Copies of all TWU student evaluation summaries for each semester for the past 3
years.
D. No more than 3 letters of support from colleagues, students, and/or alumni.
Recommendation letters will stay ‘on-file’ for 3 years to allow ease of re-application.
3. Other Considerations:
Nominations will be solicited every year and if the nominee does not win, he/she can reapply again the next year. Nominees who wish to reactivate their applications only need
to submit an updated CV. The winner of the award is not eligible to apply for at least
another 5 years.
4. Timelines and Submission Date:
All nominations including supporting documents must be received by March 31, 2015
(5:00 pm). Nominees should submit the documents listed above by email to: Diane
Brown, CHS Awards Committee Chair (OT) at dbrown@twu.edu. The award winner
will be announced during the Fall 2015 CHS General Faculty Meeting.
