SYRCE 2016-17 Fall Semester Voices From the 70’s Dear Applicant, Thank you for volunteering your participation in SYRCE as a guest speaker for the Fall 2016 Lecture Series and sharing some of your experience of the 70’s with our sophomores. To be considered, please complete the questionnaire below and return to Christine Renaudin (renaudin@sonoma.edu) by June 1st. 1- Topic We are looking for engaging personal narratives on any aspect of the 70s as you have lived them. Please take a few moments to describe, in a short abstract (200 words maximum), the topic(s) you wish to address during your 20 minutes of speaking time. As you reflect on what, of your experience of the 70s, you would like to share with our sophomores, ask yourself what you would like them to take away from your sharing. What in your narrative is enlightening about the 70s, and how can this knowledge make a difference in students’ lives and understanding of their world? 2- Delivery Although audio or visual aids are not required, it would be helpful to know in advance whether or not you plan to use any. Please indicate below the style of delivery you intend to adopt. _____ I will need projection capability for audio-visual support (If you opt for this choice, please be prepared to bring a USB key for use with the on-site laptop.) _____ I will not need any technical support other than a microphone _____ I will need __________________________________________________ (Please list any other support you may need, for example, a piano, a table, etc. 3- Biography Please include a brief biography (200 words maximum), including your name and the way you wish to be introduced the day of your contribution. Thank you for your willingness to share some of your experience with our Second Year Research & Creative Experience! Your personal narrative will add considerable value to our multi-disciplinary approach of the period studied by offering our students a chorus of genuine voices from the 70’s. We look forward to hearing from you, and to have the selection process completed by July 1st. With our best regards, Carin Jacobs and OLLI Director Christine Renaudin SYRCE Coordinator
