Santa Fe, NM, Wed. Jan. 11, 2006 – Veteran actor and president of the New Mexico branch of
the Screen Actors Guild Tom Schuch will teach budding thespians what it takes to get in front of
the camera and work in the entertainment industry. The Santa Fe Community College class,
MART 265 – Performing for TV and Film, will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 28
through April 2. The course fee is $205 for in-district residents.
Schuch has appeared in numerous films including “Blood (Thinner Than Water)” written and

Actors Equity Association and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. He also
is president of Spoli Productions, a theater arts production company.
With the entertainment industry booming throughout the state, the demand for trained actors who
have had experience in front of the camera is on the rise. The SFCC course will provide hands-on
training and direction for actors who are interested in becoming part of film productions. Topics
covered in the course include working with a director, on-set etiquette, working from a script,
auditions, and working with casting agents and directors.
The class will operate in concert with the SFCC Film Crew Training Program. Students will
participate in class exercises involving full lighting, camera, sound and staging. Students will
receive a DVD of their class performances and digital photos for use in audition portfolios.
New Mexico has been successful in bringing filmmakers to the state though financial incentives.
New Mexico’s film incentives include production tax rebates, zero interest loans and wage
reimbursements. Film incentives have added $400 million to the state’s economy during the past
three years. Films recently shot in the state include “Brokeback Mountain,” “North Country,”
“Rent” and “The Astronaut Farmer.”
