To Complete the Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) at Sonoma State University (SSU)
Starting From Your first Semester at SOLANO COMMUNITY COLLEGE (SCC)
Completion of an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (ADN) does not guarantee admission to a CSU campus.
It is recommended that students complete the CSU General Education pattern to fulfill the general education
requirements for the Associate’s Degree in Nursing.

Continuing to the Post-Licensure BSN Program at SONOMA STATE UNIVERSITY
Upon admission to SSU, proof of current California RN licensure (indicating NCLEX-RN pass), admission
to the Post-Licensure BSN Program in the Department of Nursing, and enrollment in the program, the
student is eligible for award of upper division nursing units for NLCEX. Based on individual transcript
validation, SSU may award up to 20 units of nursing course credit* pursuant to the CSU Chancellor’s
Office Executive Order 1084.

*NOTE: A maximum of 70 units may be transferred from any California Community College to any California State University.
Additional CSU credit may be awarded for demonstration of prior learning as operationalized through passing the
NCLEX –RN examination.
To meet requirements for any SSU baccalaureate degree a student must complete two courses in American Institutions:
(1) an approved American/U.S. History course AND (2) an approved U.S. Constitution/CA State & Local Government course.
Recommend completing both at MC prior to transfer to SSU. Units count toward BSN in SSU GE Area D3 and D4.
SSU Graduation requirements also include 1) one Ethnic Studies course (can be met with Soc 202 at MC noted on the front
page or with an SSU Area C Upper Division GE course noted above and 2) passing the Written English Proficiency Test (WEPT).
