1. MINUTES OF MARCH MEETING APPROVED

2. COLLEGE WEBSITE UPDATE

The “Register for Classes” button on the CCSF homepage which currently links to the

Admissions & Records/Registration launch page will be redirected to Web4’s User Login Page.

The words Web4 will also be added to the text on the button. The new Fall Schedule uses the language”Web4” so it is important for students to understand what Web4 means and be able to easily locate it on the site. The Web4 User Login page, which is generated by Banner, will also need updating. The title of the page which is currently User Login will change to Web4 with a defining subtitle yet to be determined. Other changes will include: placing information for 1) First

Time Students; 2) Continuing Students; and Employees in that order. Andrea Niosi and Mamie

How will work on a mock up and send it to the committee for review via email. The timeline for this update is April 23 rd , the date the new fall schedule is made available.

The committee also agreed upon several changes to the MyCCSF page. The Student Union image is too large and takes up to much room, making the user scroll. The motion to omit the photo was seconded. It was also agreed that a link to Web4 should be placed under the Students heading and the Class Schedule subheading. Web4 is a student web services portal serving a variety of needs

(registration, viewing of grades and holds, financial aid information and personal information on file); links to this portal should be prominent in many places on the site.

The Professional/Staff Development page is much more easily found on the new site. A better response to Flex Day participation has resulted. The new page could be improved. The committee recommends the following: 1) image used be of the Shared Governance committee; and 2) a mission statement be included. Currently, no description or text is presented in the main body of the page.

Lastly, it was recommended that the Campus Police page be housed under About CCSF and within the Administration sub-file in the CMS file structure hierarchy. A quick link to the

Campus Police should also be added to the About City College pull down menu directly under the

Diego Rivera Mural Project and above the Contact Us links.

3.

PROPOSAL FROM CCSF VETERANS ALLIANCE

Michael Brandt, the outreach coordinator of CCSF Veterans Alliance spoke to the committee.

This newly organized club represents the fastest growing demographic on campus, veterans. The club would like to make a video to promote San Francisco as a veterans’ centered city and showcase CCSF and its faculty. It would include a tutorial on the simple online enrollment process. This project is huge and requires a lot of resources and staff in the Broadcast Electronic

Media department. It would be beneficial to first understand all of the uses of the video. Student footage should be shot before the end of the semester. The chancellor is interested in this initiative. It is good for the college.

4.

AdCamp Update

Gonzales, the department chair of the Journalism department was unavailable and will come to the May meeting. One side of the newspaper kiosks is available free of charge for college advertisements. Brandt, from Veterans Alliance, would like to use the kiosks to advertise the upcoming benefit for the Veteran’s Center on Campus. Another idea voiced for use of this space was an ad for the new Student Gmail accounts.

On a side note, City College has applied for a grant for Disabled Vets from the State

Chancellor’s Office. The funding would be used for computers, software and training for the new

Disabled Vets section in DSPS.
