Names: Bull’s Eye 2. Purpose: The scientific purpose of this lab is to find out if and how a person’s accuracy and precision of throwing projectiles to a specific target will be affected when they are spun immediately preceding a throw at the bull’s eye. The secret purpose of this investigation though, is to see if it takes more focus to keep the projectiles in the range of the target, when the person is disoriented, (we want to know if there’s a secret to discus throwing). 3. Question(s): How does spinning someone affect accuracy and precision? 4. Literature Survey (theoretical background): Accuracy: Precision: 5. Hypothesis: 6. Materials: Person that has arms and knows how to throw Other person to spin first person (the one that’s throwing the objects) Data collector (person); to record information Target (garbage can) Crumpled paper (many) for dart board, or any other objects that you can throw at bull’s eye board A bucket (in case of emergency) Measuring tape (to measure how far off object was from target) Paper and pencil 7. Procedure: 8. Data Table: Number of Spins ACCURACY of darts (distance between thrown object and target in cm) Precision (distance between projectiles in cm) Throw 1 Distance between thrown object 1 and 2 Throw 2 Throw 3 Average distance away from target Distance between thrown object 1 and 3 Distance between thrown object 2 and 3 Average distance between thrown objects 0 2 4 6 8 10 9.
