Welcome to sixth grade Earth Science. My name is Ms B. I am thrilled to be teaching Earth
Science at New West this year. This is your beginning guide to the year. Please read it carefully.
Your binder should be brought to class EVERY DAY, and will be part of your participation
points.
How you are graded
In class work, participation and binders = 30%
Tests = 30%
Projects = 40%

Late Work and Absences
All students are expected to attend class and complete all assigned work. I will not accept late
work. In the event of an excused absence I will allow one school day for every missed day to turn
in missed work. (for example- if you are sick for 2 days, you will have two days after you return
to turn in the missed work). It is the student’s responsibility to get missed work from me the day
that he/she returns to school. I have provided a homework/classwork board where students will
find all homework and classwork for each day of the week.76

I am looking forward to this year for 6th grade science. I have planned a lot of fun activities, labs,
and field trips. Let’s make this a great year together!
Homework – Student/Parent Accountability
Please read this syllabus with your parents. Keep one copy for yourself. Both you and your
parents will sign the other copy and return it to me Wednesday, it will be worth 10 points.
