Two of the databases you should become familiar with are EBSCOHost and ERIC. For this activity we will use ERIC from CSA. Click on this link to continue. Notes: At this point, you must sign in to the library with your CSUN ID code (xxx12345) and your password. Click submit after you type in your access code. Help your neighbor Notes: A: Enter differentiated instruction into the first box. B: Note that you are still searching in the ERIC database. C: Before you click search, narrow your results to those articles that are available online. D: When you have set these parameters, then click search. Notes: Look at the tabs for the results from your search. Fill out the table below for the number of hits that “differentiated instruction” earned in each category. Conferences Books Use the browsers back arrow to return to the advanced search page, or scroll down to find the same information. This time, you will create a Boolean Search, with three (and) criteria. A: Enter differentiated instruction into the first box, taxonomy into the second and intelligences into the third. B: Note that you are still searching in the ERIC database. D: When you have reset these parameters, then click search again. C: Be sure you are still restricted to articles that are available online. Notes: Your results should be similar to this screenshot. Click on the title or View Record to get the full abstract. Highlight and copy the text of the article’s abstract.
