Shape Project Objective: Explore shapes, organic and geometric, in relationship to a two-dimensional surface Produce two-dimensional works using shapes while focusing on the principles of design. Think about the positive and negative space when designing your pieces. Supplies: White paper- three 11 x 14 (inch) Black construction paper Scissors/utility (X-Acto) knife and extra blades #11 Glue stick or spray adhesive Pencils Black matte/Illustration board- three 14 x 16 (inch) Sketchbook - It is important to sketch down your ideas before creating the final designs- at least 5 variations for each design. (You may not need to for the third piece) You will also need to write a process statement for each of these three (3) project pieces. Project Instructions: Part 1 Geometric Shapes Choose a geometric shape; squares, circles or triangles for example. Using black construction paper, make several different sizes of your chosen shape. Keep in mind the size of your working plane, 11 x 14 (inch) square. Part 2 Organic Shapes This time you will create your own organic shapes and make several different sizes that fit inside an 11 x 14 (inch) square. Part 3 Using an image of your choice (make sure you print this out) create a black and white image out of construction paper. Keep in mind the positive and negative areas of the image and how you will use this in your design. The final designs will be placed on three separate 14 x 16 (inch) black matte boards. Due:
