COURSE DESCRIPTION: TRVM1313 Travel Ticketing Forms and Procedures(3 credits)
An introduction to manual travel agency operations and basic hands-on reservations
techniques. An overview of the ARC ticketing, forms, and procedures.

COURSE GOALS:
At the completion of this course, the student should be able to:
1. Define at least four important functions of the Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC) is
relates to travel agency operations.
2. Decode, by memory, eleven major North American airline letter codes.
3. Locate and label on a U.S. map the major airport cities or gateways when given a list of
three-letter city/airport codes.
4. Define the following flight-itinerary terms: origin, destination, outward destination,
stopover city, and connection city.
5. Define the following types of air journeys: one-way, round-trip, circle-trip, and open-jaw.
6. Define the following types of flight services: direct, nonstop, and connection.
7. List the common questions to ask a client in order to find the most suitable flight
schedule.
8. Read and interpret flight availability displays from the airline computer reservation
systems.
9. Read and interpret flight schedules from the printed Official Airline Guide.
10. Make an airline reservation by telephone.
11. Interpret the automated Passenger Name Record(PNR).
12. Define the following fare-calculation terms: Point-to-point fare, through fare, and joint
fare.
13. Interpret automated pricing for different types of air itineraries.
14. List the five types of ARC accountable and non-accountable manual traffic documents
and describe the function(s)of each.
15. Name the four coupon sections of each type of accountable tickets, and describe the
location and distribution of each section.
16. Locate the three areas on the airline ticket that are imprinted when a ticket is validated.
17. Describe the functions of the ticket-imprint machine, agency and airline identification
plates during the validation procedure.
18. Write a standard ticket for point-to-point fares.
19. Write a standard ticket for through fares (connecting-flight services.)
20. Write a standard ticket for one-way and round-trip itineraries that include one or more
fuel surcharges.
21. Write a standard ticket for one-way and round-trip itineraries that include one or more
Passenger Facility Charges.
22. Complete a standard airline ticket for circle-trip routings that include nonstop, direct, and
connecting flights.
23. Complete a standard airline ticket for two types of open-jaw itineraries.

Interpret fare rules that govern discounted normal and non-refundable fares.
Qualify the client for the lowest possible fare.
Complete manual airline tickets for various types of one-way, discounted, and excursion
fares.
Calculate the refund amount for the following situation: (a) refund on full ticket amount;
(b) refund on partial ticket amount; (c) refund when a cancellation penalty applies.
Complete the “Refund/Exchange Notice” document for both cash/check and credit-card
transactions.
Complete a new ticket document when it is being exchanged for an original document.
Complete the “Refund/Exchange Notice” document for each type of exchange
transaction: even; add collect; and refund.
Define Prepaid Ticket Advice and describe the procedure leading up to the issuance of
the PTA document.
Complete all entries on the PTA document for both cash/check and credit card forms of
payment.
Describe procedures to follow when issuing a refund for a PTA.
Complete the Refund/Exchange Notice from the Authority to Refund Prepaid Ticket
advice document.
Complete the Miscellaneous Charges Order(MCO) document for deposit s and full
payments of the following types of transportation and services: tour packages, car
rentals and cruises.
Complete the tour order for full and balance payments of tour packages.
Complete the MCO for deposit payment and the accompanying tour order for the
balance payment of a specified tour package.

ATTENDANCE AND WITHDRAWAL POLICY:
1. Attendance:
A. Students are expected to attend all classes (see college catalog
for attendance policy).
B. Students are responsible for all work missed during an
absence, and it is the student's responsibility to consult with instructors for make-up
assignments.
C. If a student misses 2 or more consecutive classes (12.5%, including lecture and
laboratory time), he/she may be withdrawn from the course by the instructor. This
policy will be strictly enforced for veterans.
D. Students are expected to be quiet and attentive during the class, no pager or
cellular phone is allowed during the class.

Withdrawal:
It is the responsibility of the student to officially drop or withdraw from a course.
Failure to officially withdraw may result in the student receiving a grade of “F” in the
course. A student may officially withdraw in any of the following ways:

COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND GRADING POLICY:
A. Tests-student’s performance will be evaluated through true/false, fill in the blank,
and multiple choice questions. To evaluate the student achievement for the
stated objectives he/she will complete three tests and a comprehensive final
exam.
A. Grade:
A = 90 – 100
B = 80 -- 89
C = 70 -- 79
D = 60 – 69
F = 59 or below

This course analyzes ticket pricing, fare construction, ticketing, and various rules and tariffs
in addition to the overall function of the commercial and leisure travel consultant.
