Course description and objectives: This course focuses on the biological chemistry of the cell and organization
of a living organism. Discussions include biological processes, cellular morphology, metabolism and genetics.
This course is designed to give basic knowledge of life sciences to students who are taking it as part of their
science core or going for biology/applied health sciences.

1. Lab manual is required!!!
2. Class attendance is mandated by the state. Attendance will be given only if you attend full class
periods. Coming late to the class, leaving early or walking in and out of the classroom during a lecture
will be considered as disruption. More than four unexcused absences may result in an administrative
withdrawal. You are responsible for everything covered or announced during your absence
3. Please turn cellular phones off during class periods.
4. Eating, drinking or smoking is NOT allowed in the laboratory
5. Cheating during the exam or for homework assignment is not permitted. If it occurs, the student may
receive a zero for the exam/assignment or a grade of F in the course.
6. Students who require reasonable accommodations for disabilities are encouraged to call to make
necessary arrangements. Instructors are only authorized to provide accommodations requested by
Disability Support Services Office.
