DEADLINES FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORM
For re-assessment examinations from January session: 1 May.
For re-assessment examinations from May/June session: 4 weeks in advance of the
re-assessment examination.
CRITERIA AND ELIGIBILITY
1.1
Students are expected to attend examinations at their normal place of study. In order to maintain the
integrity of the examinations it is only in exceptional circumstances that students are permitted to sit
an examination at an alternative approved location.
1.2
Students will only be eligible to sit re-assessment examinations at an alternative location. If, for
unforeseen and exceptional reasons they are unable to attend at their normal place of study, the
student should submit mitigation.
1.3
Applications will only be approved for students to take re-assessment examinations at an alternative
location if they meet one or more of the following criteria:

(a)
if an international student has completed their course but are required to complete a reassessment examination in order to graduate;
(b)
if a student is required to spend a period abroad as part of their course (or if a student is on
an approved student exchange programme) and the examination period falls during their time
abroad;
(c)
if a student is subject to Tier 4 sponsor requirements and cannot have their visa extended to
remain in the UK because there is no participation required for 60 days;
(d)
if there are exceptional circumstances approved by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) or
the Director of the Academic Office.
Students will not be permitted to sit a re-assessment examination at an alternative location if:
(a)
their current university status is recorded as debtor, excluded or suspended;
(b)
they have previously been found to have committed an assessment offence in an
examination.
1.5
Applicants who have special examination arrangements should be aware that these arrangements
may not be possible for examinations taken at another location.
1.6
All applications must be supported by full documentation evidencing the requirement to sit the
examinations at an alternative location. Applications that are not verifiable by documentation will not
be considered.
1.7
An administration fee will be charged of £125 per examination paper. The fee must be paid in
advance of the examination. Arrangements for payment will be made through the Faculty Office.
Students are responsible for paying all local invigilation/administration fees imposed by the alternative
examination venue. Failure to take up any approved arrangements will not entitle students to a
refund of any fee levied.
