Review of Purpose and background to Basic Skills Self Assessment. Rebecca and Maryanne provided a quick review of the origin and importance of the Basic Skills Self Assessment tool. This is a pilot project within the California community college system, and we will have the opportunity to have input on the final design of the process, which may be mandated in the future. II. Introduction to Moodle. Rebecca demonstrated how to sign up on the Moodle web site, and some of the features of Moodle. A Wikki, or forum for on-line collaboration on projects, has been set up for each Effective Practice to provide a space to share responses to the questions, as well as a Wikki for the Planning Matrix for each Section. III. Discussion of Effective Practices A2 and A3. The group discussed the questions posed by the BSSA tool for the strategies of these 2 effective practices: Where do the Strategies occur? As Applicable, briefly describe how this practice occurs/exists at your institution. What evidence exists to support the efficacy of this practice? What barriers/limitations exist to implementing or enhancing this practice? How might this practice be advanced or expanded upon in the future? The responses to these questions were posted on the Moodle Wikki (!). Brainstorm ideas for the Planning Matrix were added to the Moodel Wikki (!) for the Section A Matrix. IV. Next Meeting. The next meeting will be Friday, April 20, 12:00-2:00. Between the two meetings, taskforce members are planning to sign up for Moodle, and add their ideas about each of the effective practices in the Wikki for each practice.
