ACADEMIC PLANNER INSTRUCTIONS
Students are required to load 48 hours of courses into their Academic Planner. This is a
mandatory requirement for ALL students. Please follow the instructions below to begin adding
classes to your planner:
Step1: Log in to HCC Student Center
Step 2: Click “PLAN” (left hand side)
Step 3: Click “Browse Course Catalog”
Step 4: Click on the first letter of the courses you “plan” to take to fulfill your degree
requirements (eg: click on letter B to select a Biology class: BIOL 1322). You will browse each
class this way until you have added all 48 hours of classes.
Step 5: Click on a campus location where you would like to complete the courses, then click on
“ADD TO PLANNER.”
Step 6: You will then get a message: “BIOL 1322 has been added to your planner.”
Step 7: Click on “Return to Browse Course Catalog” to to select another class. You will repeat
this process until you have aded 48 hours of classes.
Step 8: Once you have added all 48 hours of classes, now it’s time to sort them into terms you
want to take these classes. To organize your Planner, choose the desired courses and select the
term in which you widh to attend the courses from the drop box. Then click “Move.”
Step 9: Continue this process until you have assigned all of your added courses to a semester.
You should begin to see your Planner broken down into Fall 2016, Spring 2017, Summer 2017,
etc.
The last step shows you classes that you have decided to take during the spring 2016. Click on
the class BIOL 2401, for example, and you will see the screen appear. You may click on “View
CL: Sections.” Next, you will see “Course Schedule.” Please make sure you select the right
term (spring 2016). Click “Show Sections.”
The courses below are the courses you need to have to complete your Planner. Just add and
sort these courses into the terms you wish to take each of the courses.
