ANNEX B
SANDHURST 16 - EXTERNAL TEAM RECONNAISSANCE 4 – 5 FEB 2016
1.
Situation. In 1967, the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) presented USMA with a British Officer’s sword.
The intent was for the sword to be the prize for a competition, the aim of which was to promote military excellence among
the Corps of Cadets. The original mission statement read as follows - “To provide the Corps of Cadets with a challenging
and rewarding regimental skills competition, which will enhance professional development and military excellence in
selected Soldier skills.” The competition has evolved to incorporate teams from sister academies, ROTC, OCS and
foreign academies. USMA facilitates a reconnaissance prior to the competition for all competing teams with the primary
focus being those who do not have access to United States Military Academy (USMA) training area in their preparation for
the competition.
2.
Mission. From 4 – 6 Feb 15 DMI will host the External Team Reconnaissance at the USMA to:
a.
Afford the external teams the opportunity to review and learn the skills that are US Army specific.
b.
Submit demands for US Army specific equipment.
c.
Introduce them to the Tac Officer LNOs who will be responsible for hosting them during the competition.
d.
Familiarize the team managers with West Point.
