include JDB300, the library in the LHSC, or your own computer.
ATTENDANCE POLICY: Students may be withdrawn by the instructor after missing 4 hours of class time.
This is not a course for which students are normally registered. This individualized assignment is the mechanism HCCS has for
handling students who are preparing to take or to retake their college placement examination. Students are placed into the PREM
0200 course if they are within a certain number of points of placing into either Math 0308, Math 0312, or Math 1314.
Course Description: MyFoundationsLab will be used to create individualized assignments for each student enrolled in the course.
The assignments will include attending class, working with the instructor or tutor and/or working on the computer tutorials, etc. The
assignment depends on the assessed needs of the student; it is not at the same level for all students in the course. Each student must
agree to accept and honor his particular assignment before the student is enrolled in the course.
Prerequisites: There are no course prerequisites. However, the student should have taken the COMPASS Placement exam prior to
enrolling in PREM 0200.
Course Goal: This course is intended for students who wish to prepare for their college placement exam in the area of MATH.
Learning Objectives:


Students will learn to learn to compound their prior knowledge and new knowledge and apply it to their college placement
test.
Students will sharpen their critical thinking skills and learn to use logical reasoning to answer standardized test questions.
Learning Outcome: Students will raise their Prealgebra and/or Algebra COMPASS Placement scores.
Instructional Methods: All students must show up on the first day of class for the course orientation and must bring a copy of their
COMPASS Testing Results with them. All course assignments will be completed using MyFoundationsLab.
Grading: Students must take the COMPASS Exam on the last day of class and provide the results to their instructor before receiving a
grade for this course. Grades are as follows:
A: Attendance requirement met, COMPASS Post test completed, and COMPASS results indicate placement into a higher level
course than the COMPASS pretest indicated
IP: Attendance requirement met, COMPASS Post test completed, and COMPASS results indicate placement into either the
same level course as the initial COMPASS pretest or a lower course placement. The IP grade may only be given one time.
F: No COMPASS Post test completed. OR [student has failed to place into the next level of mathematics based upon COMPASS
test results AND student has already received a grade of “IP” for this class].
W: Student stopped attending class before the withdrawal date (see calendar below)
WITHDRAWAL: Students who do not work on their individualized assignment in accordance with their agreement, may be
withdrawn.

MATH PLACEMENT IN MYFOUNDATIONSLAB
MyFoundationsLab will diagnose and place each student into individualized learning paths. The following criteria are used to
determine which Math path builder should be used.
If the student does not have a previous COMPASS or Course Placement Result, the student should take the Math Path Builder Exam.
If the student has COMPASS results, the course placement will determine which Path Builder is appropriate:
