The purpose of this report is to enable program directors to give an account of their programs’
strengths and achievements during the academic year; explain current trends and changes in
students or curricula; identify challenges and opportunities; and draw attention to needs. While
quantitative metrics are useful, this report should mainly provide brief descriptive, qualitative
information in order to give a multifaceted account of the program’s and the director’s efforts,
achievements and needs.
Report Deadline: please submit to the chairperson and graduate dean no later than June 1.
Copies of the report should be sent to both department chairpersons and the Dean of Graduate
Studies, to be used in their annual reports and planning.

I. Recruitment Initiatives
A. Describe efforts you and your department have made to publicize your program and
recruit new students, and the success and/or challenges you have encountered. What
methods work best for your program?
B. What have been the level and nature of the inquiries you have received this year from
prospective applicants? How do you track and respond to inquiries?
II. Enrollment Trends
How does student enrollment this year compare with the previous year? What factors –
internal and external -- influence enrollment in your program? Could enrollment be
increased?
III. Student Profile
Recognizing the diversity of students who enroll in Villanova’s graduate programs, describe
your students, including such characteristics as their academic and/or professional
qualifications, goals and interests, reasons for choosing Villanova, and the cohesion and
community of graduate students in the program. How could the graduate student experience
be improved?
IV. Program Changes
What innovations and changes have been made in your program during this academic year:
the introduction or elimination of certificates, tracks, or concentrations; curriculum changes;
changes in requirements, comprehensive examination, or capstone experiences.
V. Opportunities and Needs
What opportunities are available for your program’s and students’ growth and improvement,
and what would be needed to take advantage of them?

Describe the challenges faced by your program in its efforts to achieve its goals.

Describe your students’ most significant accomplishments this academic year: conference
papers or posters presented, publications, creative achievements, etc.

Evaluate the services and support you have received from the staff and dean in Graduate
Studies, and please identify areas where improvements may be made.
IX. Impact of Radius
Discuss how your program uses Radius to deal with prospective students and applicants.
X. Tuition Scholars and Graduate Assistants
Please list all of your tuition scholars and graduate assistants for the year, and give a brief
report on their activities. Allocate a percentage to delineate their time devoted to: Research
Assistance; Teaching Assistance; Professional Work. Also, please note any extraordinary
accomplishments.
