This Law applies to all Electronic and Information Technology (E&IT) purchases over $15,000. PCBO Overview for August 29, 2008 2 What is Accessible Technology The CSU system has launched a systemwide Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) to ensure that each CSU campus follows state and federal laws mandating access to technology. Accessibility for all is a priority at Cal State San Marcos. We are committed to providing an accessible and inclusive environment that enables all persons to be successful in attaining an education and information on or about our campus. PCBO Overview for August 29, 2008 3 What is Section 508 Section 508 is part of the Rehabilitation Act Law, as amended in 1998 that requires access to electronic and information technology (E&IT). Technology must be accessible to employees and members of the public with disabilities to the extent it does not pose an “undue burden.” Section 508 is about creating an open door to information, including computers, software, and electronic office equipment.
