Intensive discussion was centered on the changes needed to occur to improved the retention. The members recognized the importance of campus life and the necessary tools for proper advising. It was decided with the followings: A subcommittee led by the Registrar will submit a proposal to define the responsibility for transcript evaluation for transfer students. This is to provide remedy for the current shortcoming of late evaluation that eventually affects the degree audit for graduation. Lynn will further analyze the Western Undergraduate Exchange retention and report back to the Council for possible modification of our current admission policy. Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs will be invited at that time. Academic advising needs the continuous improvement. Until resources are available for the hiring of professional advisors or providing course for specialized advising, we will continue to facilitate a cultural change to emphasize on faculty’s role on academic advising.
