Fraternity Executives Association Statement of Position Campus Support Teams The Fraternity Executives Association (FEA) recognizes the need for productive dialogue on campuses where change is either currently on the horizon or is being considered for the future by campus officials. Further, the FEA acknowledges the domain of umbrella organizations such as the NorthAmerican Interfraternity Conference (NIC), the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) and the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC). To most effectively support a change effort, the FEA will act in the role of partner to the umbrella organizations. Specifically, the FEA will accompany umbrella organizations to campus to facilitate communication, collaboration and cooperation among all interfraternal parties involved in the change effort. In order to make maximum use of (a) the time and talent of FEA member fraternity professional resource people, and (b) the FEA member fraternity financial resources, and (c) improve communication and collaboration, the FEA recommends the use of the Campus Support Team Program. The following guidelines should apply concerning campus support team visits: 1. Members of the Fraternity Executives Association will be asked by the president to serve on a Campus Support Team to work with other interfraternal umbrella organization representatives and the campus administrators for the purpose of collaborating the efforts of the NPC, NIC, NPHC, and other interested parties. 2. The FEA recommends that the Campus Support Team that will go to the campus should be comprised of three-five representatives or more, depending upon the circumstances. 3. The Campus Support Team will represent the interests of their respective umbrella organization, understanding that different perspectives will be articulated by the other representatives, but will strive to work in concert with the procedures of the other organizations. 4. The representatives on the Campus Support Team will meet in a conference call prior to the visit to discuss issues, challenges, and goals that should be the focus of the visit. One of the Campus Support Team representatives will be identified to be the point person for the team. 5. The point person for the Campus Support Team will contact the campus officials to discuss the logistics and strategy associated with the visit. 6. Meetings should be established with the following representatives to assure that all of the appropriate parties are involved in the visit. President V.P. of Student Affairs Dean of Students Campus Chief of Police Greek Advisor and Staff IFC President Panhellenic Council President Alumni IFC President Alumnae Panhellenic President Other campus representatives involved in specific issues 7. At the conclusion of the visit the Campus Support Team will submit a report to all general fraternities with chapters on the campus to provide highlights of the visit and to provide specific direction for follow-up by each organization with their undergraduates and alumni. 8. The Campus Support Team will make personal contact with executives of general fraternities who have achapter on the campus that has been placed under sanctions or that has been identified as needing additional support from the general fraternity. 9.The Campus Support Team will ask the campus representatives to remain in contact with them throughout the remainder of the year to provide progress reports. The campus administrators should also be encouraged tocontact the Campus Support Team members if further support is needed or required. These guidelines are adopted by the Fraternity Executives Association to insure most effective use of the professional volunteers and paid staff professionals of the fraternities in meeting the multitude of requests for participation in campus events. The professional demands within each fraternity being what they are, each fraternity must, in the opinion of FEA, conserve time and money while still supporting as many campus visits as possible.
