Attention NIH awardees: Clarifying Publication Reporting Instructions for

Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPR) and Renewal Applications - This guidance applies to the following activity codes: T15, T32, TL1, T34, TL4, T35, T90,

R25, RL5, R90, RL9, K12, KM1, KL2, D43, D71, DP7, U2R, and U45.

• Awardees are responsible for ensuring publications are deposited into the

NIHMS upon acceptance for publication.

• Authors can use the Applicability & Submission Method Wizard

(http://publicaccess.nih.gov/determine-applicability.htm) to learn how to bring their publication into compliance and report it to NIH.

• Investigators, authors and delegates can track public access compliance in

My Bibliography (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/myncbi/). Program

Directors/Principal Investigators may wish to track publications they do not

author in the collection Other Citations (see the My Bibliography FAQ for more instructions). Other Citations is especially helpful for managing institutional training grants and complex awards.

• NIH recommends investigators or their delegates check the public access compliance of all the papers directly arising from their award at least once a quarter.

Data Concepts and Terminology Standards for the Support of Human Drug

Development and Evaluation (U24) RFA-FD-15-033

The FDA Center for Drug Evaluation and Research is encouraging applications for projects to expedite development of data concepts and terminology standards, as

well as assessments or evaluations of standards for use to support human drug development and evaluation. The primary objective is to support the development of non-proprietary, consensus-based, data standards for use in regulatory data for human drugs and biologics, while ensuring interoperability between clinical research and healthcare standards. Projects may focus on standards development, evaluation, or focus on a particular challenge area related to general clinical and nonclinical study data, specific therapeutic areas, as well as other sections of the regulatory submission (e.g., quality / Chemistry,

Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC).

Deadline: July 17, 2015

4)

Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER) NSF 15-555

Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program is a Foundation-wide activity that offers the National Science Foundation's most prestigious awards in support of junior faculty who exemplify the role of teacher-scholars through outstanding research, excellent education and the integration of education and research within the context of the mission of their organizations. Such activities should build a firm foundation for a lifetime of leadership in integrating education and research.

Deadline: July 22, 2015

5) Dear Colleague Letter: ACI & Career NSF 15-072

The Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE)

Division of Advanced Cyberinfrastructure (ACI) invites proposals from junior faculty within the community of scientists, engineers, and educators involved with cyberinfrastructure research to apply to the Faculty Early Career

Development (CAREER) Program. ACI’s research interests include use-inspired and/or applied multidisciplinary research. Additional context for ACI’s interests in this solicitation can be found in “Cyberinfrastructure Framework for 21st Century

Science and Engineering (CIF21)”

Deadline: July 21, 2015

6) Biological and Physiological Effects of E-cigarette Aerosol Mixtures(RO1)

RFA-DE-16-004

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support research aimed at understanding the biological and physiological effects of aerosol mixtures produced by electronic cigarettes (ECs) on cells, tissues and

organs of the oral cavity including oral and periodontal epithelia, gingiva, salivary glands, and tooth. This FOA will also support research on elucidation of the effects of ECs on oral microbiome. Research supported by this FOA would provide essential and necessary information on the biological effects of ECs that would in turn lead to evidence based foundational information for health policy decisions.

Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace (SaTC) NSF 15-575

Cyberspace has transformed the daily lives of people for the better. The rush to adopt cyberspace, however, has exposed its fragility and vulnerabilities: corporations, agencies, national infrastructure and individuals have been victims of cyber-attacks. In December 2011, the National Science and Technology Council

(NSTC) with the cooperation of NSF issued a broad, coordinated Federal strategic plan for cybersecurity research and development to "change the game," minimize the misuses of cyber technology, bolster education and training in cybersecurity, establish a science of cybersecurity, and transition promising cybersecurity research into practice. This challenge requires a dedicated approach to research,

development, and education that leverages the disciplines of mathematics and statistics, the social sciences, and engineering together with the computing, communications and information sciences.

Deadline: September 16/24, 2015

All deadlines listed in this announcement indicate the agency’s due date. Please adjust your PPF submission to account for the new deadline policies.
