Abstract: University of Arizona, Arizona State Museum, will assist Chamizal National
Memorial in developing an Exhibit Plan that will serve as the blueprint for production of
museum exhibits for the Chamizal National Memorial Visitor Center. The goal of this project
will be to produce creative tangible outcomes of conceptual ideas developed in Chamizal’s
Foundation Document and Comprehensive Interpretive Plan (CIP). Cooperators will build on
foundational information provided therein, such as: 1) park purpose, significance, primary
interpretive themes, audiences, and desired visitor experiences; 2) orientation and information
needs; and 3) broad concepts and associated tangible and intangible resources associated with
each. The final product, the Exhibit plan, will require the completion of: A) a floor plan
illustrating anticipated traffic flow; B) interpretive content, labels, and copy per exhibits; C) all
design elements, including audio-visual treatments, graphic images, art, dioramas, etc. D) a
resource database that establishes the relationship between objects, artifacts, objects, photos, art
and labels to one another; E) production-ready graphic files, F) a lighting plan, G) construction
drawings for exhibit fabrication and installation, and H) fabrication of temporary exhibits (mockup).
