Physics Department The University of Texas at Arlington ___________________________________ COLLOQUIUM Symplectic Symmetry of the Neutrino Mass Dr. Nurcan Ozturk University of Texas, Arlington Abstract Neutrinos play an essential role in electroweak physics and there is a fascinating interplay between neutrino properties and various astrophysical phenomena. The neutrino mass is perhaps the most exquisite hint for physics beyond the standard model. In this work the algebraic structure of the most general neutrino mass Hamiltonian is examined. The transformation that generates the seesaw mechanism explaining the light neutrino mass is discussed.
