Guidelines for
Semi-Annual Sociology Book Award

Submissions are due each semester by deadline advertised.

Essays, poems, and other written materials should be electronically submitted to
pamela.williams-paez@canyons.edu

3D art, photographic prints and other materials may be submitted through campus mail to
Pamela Williams-Paez, Sociology Professor

Projects completed must be related to coursework at College of the Canyons

Students must be enrolled in classes at COC for semester they are submitting to the Sociology
Book Award

Student may be a one-time recipient of this award

Student may submit one project per semester to this award

Award may be used for textbooks at the College of the Canyons bookstore the term following
semester awarded.

Students are encouraged to address current issues related to society or culture, nationally or
internationally.

Submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
o Organization and grammar
o Timeliness of issue
o Sociological relevance
o Creativity and originality
