Additional responsibilities include collaborating with other CHEPS colleagues on applied research projects for various educational organizations and government ministries of education. August 1999 – May 2001: Assessment coordinator, The Biogeochemical Research Initiative for Education (BRIE) The Pennsylvania State University, USA - Responsible for developing and implementing the assessment design for a 5-year National Science Foundation grant to study advanced interdisciplinary approaches to graduate study in the physical sciences at Penn State. December 1999 – May 2001: Director – BRIE Undergraduate Summer Fellowship Program, Supervised by Dr. Susan Brantley – BRIE Director The Pennsylvania State University, USA - Responsible for all logistical aspects of a nationally competitive summer fellowship program. Specific duties included advertising, coordinating the efforts of review panel, arranging various field trips, and organizing a research symposium for fellows to display and discuss their summer research projects. May 1999 – August 1999: Research Assistant, Dr. Roger Geiger, Professor – Higher Education Program The Pennsylvania State University, USA - Assembled WebCASPAR database and performed statistical analysis for faculty member’s research project, American universities in the marketplace in the 1990s. Culminated in paper presented in June 1999 at the 12th annual conference of the Consortium of Higher Education Researchers, Oslo, Norway. January 1998 – September 1999: Research Assistant, Dr. Carol Colbeck – Center for the Study of Higher Education The Pennsylvania State University, USA - Developed and implemented coding structure to analyze data for an OERI-funded study on enhancing faculty contributions to learning productivity.
