Fagbenle, Ayodeji MFC 205 Final assignment The skill of teaching is something that you truly have to be naturally born with. I always say there are three main attributes that a person must have to be a successful teacher; emotional intelligence, patience, and positive temperament. Emotional intelligence is defined as the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically. Put simply, emotional intelligence is the ability to perceive how people digest what you communicate to them. This skill is extremely important when teaching because it helps to be on the same wavelength of your pupils. Through my past experience with kids as a camp counselor, I was able to cultivate and manifest this skill. Patience is something that I once struggled with in my youth. While growing up I just learned things a lot quicker than my mates which often put me at odds with them. Through my working experience as a camp counselor at Roy Wilkins Park, I’ve seen kids at different levels of intelligence. One thing that I have noticed is that just because a person learns something faster, it doesn’t mean that they will excel at it any better than a slower learner. Taking this into consideration has allowed me to be a much more patient person when dealing pupils whore “slow learners’. It is a fact that people naturally feed off the energy of others in an organization. Having a good temperament is a quality that someone at the top should have to influence the behavior of those below him. I am known by many for having positive vibes that make others feel warm and welcome. Now last but not least, my biggest asset in regards to this this position is that I actually love the sport of cheerleading. As a child who was raised by mom who was a coach, I have constantly been around it and have grown to love the sport.
