WORK EXPERIENCE 2002 (June) - Present Research Specialist – Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) I am currently working in the Human Resources Development (HRD) directorate of the HSRC, in Pretoria. My research areas are mainly on private higher education and human resource development in South Africa. 2001 – 2002 (May) Chief Education Specialist – National Department of Education (Pretoria) I worked in the Directorate - Private Higher Education. Having done research in the field of private higher education in South Africa and written my Masters of Education (M. Ed) mini-thesis in the same field, while at the Education Policy Unit (UWC), I was recruited by the Department. The job mainly entailed information management; correspondence with private institutions; analysis of information submitted by registered institutions in the form of annual reports; contributed in policy development for the sector and compiling of background briefing information for the Director General and the Minister on certain matters that require their attention. 1999 – 2001 (Feb.) Researcher – Education Policy Unit (University of the Western Cape) Doing research on private higher education in South Africa. Mainly responsible for research on gross violations of human rights associated with the Mass Democratic Movement as well as sharing research responsibility on the Western and Northern Cape Provinces. 1994-1996 Academic Development Practitioner- Academic Development Centre - UWC Developing Writing Tutorial Programme for first year students in the Xhosa Department; Running tutor training programme for all the department’s tutors and working with various other departments on the teaching of reading and writing skills to students.
