Civility: Support a civil, engaging, and respectful campus climate. 3 NAU MISSION & GOALS: 2016 AND BEYOND… Strategic Goals: • Student success • Nationally recognized research excellence • Global engagement • Diversity, civic engagement, and community building • Commitment to Native Americans • Sustainability and effectiveness Design a sustainable and effective building that will streamline kitchen and food service efficiency to the benefit of the students and dining staff. 4 RECITAL HALL MISSION & GOALS Recital Hall Goals: • Conduct a programming effort to determine size and finalize scope, • Develop a strong conceptual design to solicit fundraisers, • Student focus 6 SITE MAP 7 SITE MAP 8 SITE MAP 9 FLOOR PLANS 10 FLOOR PLANS 11 FLOOR PLANS 12 SITE MAP Site considerations: • Addition to existing buildings – 37 & 37A • Consideration for occupied buildings 13 PRE-CONSTRUCTION PHASE • Review the current DP NAU contract prior to submittal as terms & conditions of the contract won’t be negotiable. • Review Pre-construction and Construction requirements in the RFQ and in DP/CMAR contracts. • Acknowledgement of Design Guidelines & NAU Technical Standards (signature page to be turned in). • Programming and conceptual design for fundraising effort • This project may end after conceptual design if fundraising is not obtained. 14 CONSTRUCTION PHASE • Construction is tentative for this project. • In anticipation of project moving to construction phase: • Review Pre-construction and Construction requirements in the RFQ and in DP/CMAR contracts. • Events will be happening in Ardrey during construction period – schedule TBD. • Construction phasing options. • Students traffic around the project. • Safety. • Working hours. 15 SCHEDULE & CONSTRUCTION COSTS SCHEDULE: • Hold for DP interviews – 2/12/2016 • DP selected by 2/13/2016 • Programming/Conceptual Design by 6/1/2016 CONSTRUCTION COSTS: • Construction Cost: $7,000,000 to $14,000,000 depending on # of Practice rooms and # of seats 16 SUSTAINABILITY & TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP • This facility is expected to be LEED Gold Certified. • DP Team (including proposed Sub-Consultants such as MEP Engineers) shall have strong knowledge and experience with sustainability initiatives relative to this type of building and with renovation and construction. • Pre-construction team must have a strong understanding/experience with energy-efficient HVAC systems. • Total Cost of Ownership shall be calculated to demonstrate that building materials and building systems will be selected based on most sustainable criteria. 17 OTHER CONSULTANTS UNDER OWNER • Geo-Tech investigation: as needed • Survey: as needed • 3rd party Estimating Firm: to provide independent estimating and validation of DP’s and CMAR’s estimates at Schematic and GMP phases. • Commissioning: Commissioning Agent will be hired by NAU once further design is engaged. 18 QUALIFICATION SUBMITTAL FORMAT • Proposal due date: January 25, 2016 by 2:00 pm • 1 Original and 7 Copies + 1 Electronic Version • Page Count (Page 12 of RFQ): o Items A – G cannot exceed 25 pages o The introduction is included in this page count. o Tabs do not count as pages unless there is content on them o Resumes cannot exceed 2 pages each o Submittal Certification is 1 page – you must fill out any exceptions to the contract on this page. 19 DISQUALIFICATION ITEMS • Refer to RFQ for specifics o Turning in submittal late – if mailing, be mindful of slow delivery times – Beware of inclement weather…it is due in January o Contacting any NAU employee regarding this project other than as outlined in the RFQ (Stephanie Bauer) o Not providing the correct number of submittals or exceeding the page limit o Submitting in the wrong location o Company profiles in Resumes. Resumes should be about the individual, not the firm and are intended to aid the selection committee with info regarding the firm. 20 QUESTIONS? 21
