Briefly describe the activity/strategy, providing enough detail so that a colleague can
replicate the activity/strategy.
1. Introduction I had all students develop their own exercise plan that fits their
specific fitness goals. Through the class I explain how and why certain
exercises work the way that they do. This gives the students some relation and
understanding to what they are seeking to accomplish, so that after this class is
over they can take this information and apply it everyday. I constantly gave the
class examples of how and why diferent general exercises work the way they
do. The class assisgnement was to watch a sporting event and relate what we
do in the class and compare it to the activity of the sport. I ask for three specific
examples of how they could relate the sport to the exercises and training we do
in the class
2. Set-up & Supplies The class is given an example list of sporting events that they
can attend with specific aspects to look for.
3. Directions Find a sporting event and compare exercises and activities in this
class to the the sport. Analyze what the athletes in the sporting event are doing
and see how what we do in the class could help or benefit the athelte
What worked well? The students were excited about applying the things they learned to
some thing out side of the class. The students seemed to have a strong understanding
of the activity and had full cooperation participation with the class.
What would you change? I should of shown an example paper that the students can draw
conclusions from. Some students did were not comfortable with sports, and seemed to
first be intemidated by the assignment. I feel that if they saw an example they would not
have the hesitation and uncertainty about the activity. Once those students who were
first uncomfortable about the activity felt a lot better after they started.
Would you use the activity/strategy again? Why or why not? Yes, I would use this again
because this activity helps students branch outside of the class and actively apply
course concepts to something. This activity also applies a high level of critical thinking
with applying one concept to something else.
Please describe any student learning and/or changes that you observed after the
implementation of the activity/strategy. Students learned that there are many
applications to the training we do in the class. I noticed a stronger understanding of the
exercise and activities we did in the class. Also some students started to relate to one
another and develop relationships.
