Minutes of the College Council Meeting October 1, 2007
Present: Ms. Amezcua, Dr. Arce, Dr. Dever, Mr. Donnell, Dr. Fallo, Mr. Marcoux, Dr.
Marsee, Mr. Middleton, Dr. Nishime, Ms. Pickens, Ms. Smith, Mr. Robertson, and Dr.
Spor.
1. The FCMAT Academic Achievement report will be posted on the website as soon as
it is available.
2. El Camino College Compton Center Provost/CEO Search Procedures were
distributed. Please give input on any ideas as to who should be on the search
committee or any disagreement on procedures in writing to President Fallo. This will
be a full time regular position. The goal is to have someone on board by July 1, 2008.
3. 2007-2008 College Council Goals:
a. Define Collegial Consultation and Shared Governance and communicate to
campus community.
b. Resolve how to get information out and responses back to College Council
(process).
c. Review Procedure 2510 – Collegial Consultation
d. Review annually – El Camino Community College District – Vision
Statement, Mission Statement, Statement of Philosophy, Statement of Values,
Guiding Principles & Strategic Goals for 2007-2010.
e. Build a sense of (campus) community.
f. Increase awareness on campus of College Council function.
g. Complete seven policies.
h. Incorporate the spirit of Accreditation in every day college operations.
4. Board Policy 2510.1 – Student Participation in Local Decision Making – was
distributed. This will go to the Board as either BP 2510.1 or part of BP 2510 for the
October meeting and then to the November meeting for second reading and adoption.
The Board can either adopt this policy separately or bring this portion into the current
policy. It is reported that we are out of compliance on Title 5 without the student
portion. Title 5 also gives the Board final authority.
