Notes from February 24, 2010 Meeting

Review Notes from last meeting:
 The following amendments to notes of the February 3 meeting were made:
- List Carolee Vakil-Jessop as absent from the January 3, 2010 meeting.
- Let the notes reflect the suggestion that staff provide entertainment during the lunch
hour i.e. 3 minute performances on the outdoor stage in the quad (details to be
discussed further at the March 10th meeting)
- April meeting dates to read, April 14, 28
Collaboration with ECCE:
 Donna will meet with Luukia to discuss collaboration. Sharing lunch cost with ECCE will
allow funds to be available for supplies for the Team Building event.
Work with Sub-committee:
 The sub-committees met separately to review their proposals for workshops and teambuilding activities.
Sub-committee Reports:
 The group reconvened and reported the following:
Workshop - two workshops 45 minutes in length to be offered each day Monday thru Thursday.
One workshop will be scheduled in the morning (10:00am – 11:00am) and the other in the
afternoon (2:00pm – 3:00pm) except for Thursday when Creative Hobbies Showcase will start at
11:00am and end at 3:00pm.

Effective Communication – The committee explored other titles for the workshop but did not
settle on any. Donna will discuss with possible presenters with Connie Fitzsimons.
Handling Violence in the Workplace - Vicki de la Torre reported that Jan Caldwell has agreed to
present the workshop. Suggested areas to be covered include how to avoid/mitigate violence,
violence triggers, diffusing violence and steps to reporting violence.
ABC’s of Gardening - Anita Martinez will contact Ronald LaFond of the Horticulture department.
Topics of interest include fertilizers, seasonal gardening, indoor/outdoor plants.
How to Paint a Room – Will be presented by Jimmy Macareno
Creative Hobby Showcase – A call for creative talent entries/participants will be emailed to the
campus list serves. Allene Quarles will invite Kathy Oswald, Cindy Constantino, Roxanne
McCoy, Michele Waller to participate with their respective hobbies/talents. Beverly Gilmore will
contact her knitting group. A schedule indicating when participants will be on site to answer
questions will be made available to the campus community. To ensure that entries are secured,
committee members will rotate shifts at the display location.
Team Building Event – Mission Possible – Information about joining a team will be sent to the
campus list serve. Participants will be given more information about their “top secret” team
building mission on the day of the event.
