EL CAMINO COLLEGE Office of the Vice President-Academic Affairs MINUTES OF THE COLLEGE LOAD REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING 19 May 2005 Present: Ms. Anderson, Mr. Key, Dean Lew, Mr. Lloyd, Dr. Schwartz Teacher Load Summary – Spring 2005 The data on the teacher load summary is not fully accurate. When the second reported apportionment was submitted, some no shows and drops were not included in the first census. Therefore, it was discovered that the figures on the teacher load summary that used census data was higher than actually reported. The overall WSCH/FTE for spring 2005 is 510 but the goal the College desires to achieve is 530. It was estimated that approximately 100 FTES in positive attendance apportionment is not being reported in which the College is losing money. Division deans will need to monitor more closely in identifying courses that are positive attendance and instruct faculty how to complete the daily hours for each student. WSCH/FTE Summary The WSCFTE summary was distributed to committee members. Actuals and goals may need to be reviewed. Division goals may not be accurate in the following division/unit: Learning Resources Unit - no longer has Academic Strategies. Health Sciences and Athletics - added Nursing, Radiologic Technology and Respiratory Care. FTES For the off-campus FTES, 2098 sections were offered for Spring 2005. The 2006 winter session will offer 185 sections. If the enrollment fills 95-100%, the College should generate over 20,000 FTES. The projected FTES for 2004-05 is 19,546. First Principal Apportionment The College experienced growth last year. The cap for 2005-06 will be approximately 19,328. Next year’s goal is to achieve over 20,000 FTES. This would put the College into a new funding source with an additional $1 million. It was noted on the first principal apportionment for 2004-05 that funded supplemental growth was $2,373,674 which equates to 790 FTES. Other Items Teacher Load Summary It was suggested that the committee review the teacher load summary for each division by breakdown of department/discipline and establish goals for each department. The goals set years ago for divisions is no longer valid because some division programs have changed. Goals need to be set for each department and monitored by the committee on a semester basis.
