He will be submitting reports via CurriUNET; if assessed in fall 2011, they are due the third week of the spring 2012 semester, he demonstrated how to use the CurriUNET system on the monitor and he said one assessment is done per course, per instructor. Faculty members were reminded that if they receive an email asking for their password, not to give it out or type it. ECC will receive a fine if a virus is found on computers. If you are unsure about certain emails, call the I.T.S. (Information Technology Services) department for assistance. The chemistry building was supposed to receive new computers, but Donna Post is out on leave, therefore it will impact the new computer installation and software installation. Faculty members were invited to participate in the “California Reads” Program, to encourage students to read, foster understanding of diverse cultures, stimulate the meaningful exchange of ideas about current social and political issues, and develop a greater sense of community at ECC through related classroom and other campus activities during 2011-2012. A handout was distributed regarding instructional materials listing the questions that should be answered any time a district wishes to require students to provide materials. C. Cowell attended the parking committee meeting in December and he suggested changing the time on the signs in the parking lots, but it wasn’t approved. J. Shankweiler asked faculty for a list of courses that were assessed in fall 2011 and a list of faculty that did the assessments. Jean will meet with the biology and microbiology faculty members regarding fall 2012 classes. Information regarding the new FLEX reporter software was given to all faculty members. The FLEX Reporter is a web-based software and can be accessed using most browsers. All flex documentation can now be processed online using the FLEX reporter software. Faculty members can manage and view their flex hours anytime, they can submit individual activity proposal, conference attendance, off-campus workshops and other activities. Jean read an email that Saul Panski, President, Compton Community College District, Academic Senate, wrote regarding Accreditation in California. Two to three colleges have been placed on show cause. Show cause is the step just before loss of accreditation and requires an institution to prepare a closure plan. At Compton College, the issues that would concern the Commission are fiscal stability and progress in institutional planning. ECC and Compton must achieve proficiency by fall 2012 of SLO assessment and program review, failure to do so could harm El Camino College’s accreditation. 3
