Shibao, M. Stupy, Daniel Wright Senate Report No Report SLO Report The spring 2012 assessments are due the third week of the fall 2012 semester. The SLO handout was discussed. SLOs need to be addressed in the self evaluation reports, if they are not addressed; the self evaluation report will be returned to faculty members for revisions. The accreditation team will be visiting ECC in October 2012. Curriculum Course reviews for Anatomy and Physiology 34A & 34B, Geography 2 & 5, Horticulture 56 & 60, Physics 3A & 3B, and Physiology 31 are due in fall 2012. Course reviews for Biology 17, 101, 102, & 103, Geology 30, 32 & 36, and Physics 2A & 2B are due in spring 2013. Faculty members were told that they could enter course revisions using CurriUNET or a paper copy can be given to Mariam and she will enter the revisions. A curriculum timeline will be distributed in summer 2012. Mailroom Faculty members were asked to keep the mailroom clean. STEM Student Conference Joe Holliday suggested to create a video and to put it on the STEM website, he also discussed the mini student symposium he held 2 weeks ago. 1 Payroll issues for next year 5/15/12 Effective fall 2012, the Los Angeles County Office of Education will be changing the payroll payment dates. The faculty members must be paid in the month they work, if they are not paid on time, the district will be subject to late report penalties and interest penalties on contributions. Full time faculty members will be receiving 11 equal payments for work performed August through June for the 2012-2013 fiscal year. Voluntary payroll deductions will be deducted from 10 paychecks only, which will begin on the 2nd paycheck. Part time faculty members will be paid in 5 paychecks per semester instead of 4. Math and Science Award Ceremony The Math and Natural Sciences Award ceremony will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the east dining room area. Contributions can be given to Jean or the contribution(s) can be submitted online through the ECC foundation website at www.elcamino.edu/foundation. Submit the names of the presenters to Mariam by Thursday, May 17, 2012. The Academic Presidential awards will be held on May 16, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. in the ECC east dining area. Other iGrant information and request for funding forms were distributed to faculty members. iGrant requests are due to the Foundation Office on Friday, May 18, 2012, therefore the request(s) should be submitted to Jean no later than 10:00 a.m., May 18, 2012. The maximum amount per request is $10,000. Each division is allowed up to five requests. Make sure the iGrant request is in planbuilder or program review, or it will not be eligible for funding. The Admissions Office sent a memo regarding the change in the drop date for drops “without a notation”, the drop date deadline is the same as the add date deadline, which is 2 weeks after the semester begins. The repeat procedure has changed. The California Community College System’s Board of Governors voted to restrict students’ options for repeating general courses through revisions to California’s Title V education code. Effective summer 2012, students can repeat a class, then for the third enrollment, the Dean’s approval is needed, a student will not be able to enroll in a course for the fourth time. Classes taken at Compton College will count with classes taken at El Camino College. Joe Holliday asked for a volunteer to go on a field trip to Yosemite with the science club at no charge, it will be on August 13-17, 2012. Joe Holliday announced that the Honors Transfer program end of the year award function will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2012, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., in the east dining area, above the bookstore. 2
