Adult Re-Entry Program - Yolanda Dawson
 In the process of completing educational plans for students.
 Summer book vouchers are being sent out to students.
 There is current waitlist of 30 students for fall semester.
 Currently there are 50 students in the program.
 Grades will be pulled for the current students in the program to assess who has
maintained a 2.0 GPA as a program requirement.
 If there are any students who failed to meet the GPA requirement or who have
decided not to attend class in the fall, there will be spaces available. At that time,
names will be pulled from the fall semester waitlist.
Career Center - Bill Cooper
 Lisa Raufman has returned from sabbatical leave.
 The Annual Career Center Retreat is scheduled for July 10th. The retreats are
helpful because it allows the staff to focus on planning.
 The Student Success Conference may take place some time this year. The
emphasis is on undeclared students because it is one of the largest student
population. “Got Major?” conference was created to capture the undeclared
students and make them aware that there is a process for them.
EOPS/CARE/CalWORKS - Jeanette Magee
 The Awards Banquet took place at the end of May at the South End Racquet Club
where they recognized hundreds of students for their efforts, their above average
GPA’s, and for receiving scholarships.
 Margarita Gonzalez will be retiring and her last day will be Monday, June 30th.
She will return as an adjunct. Due to budget constraints, Margarita’s position has
been placed on hold.
 Nancy Fong will be added as part-time counselor to the CalWORKs department.
 Dexter Vaughn and Nelson Espinola are the new full time counselors for EOPS
 They are in the process of completing budget, MIS and activities reports.
Honors Transfer Program - Bill Cooper & Sue Oda-Omori
 Many of the new honors students for fall 2008 are coming in early to complete
their educational plans.
 Many students that will be transferring in spring 2009 are also coming in early
for their projection of winter and spring classes to ensure that that will have all of
their units completed.
 The majority of the students in the program want to attend UCLA because
students in the program receive priority consideration for admissions.
 The program is number two out of all the HTP’s in the state to have students
admitted to UCLA.
 The status of the part time counselors’ hours have not yet been determined for the
summer and fall semesters.
 The Honors Transfer Program should be a priority in receiving all the support in
terms of counseling faculty position prioritization.

Project Success - Brian Mims
 New Student Orientation will be held Thursday, June 26th at 10:00 a.m. outside
Brian Mims’ office, room 104G.
 A second New Student Orientation will be held Wednesday, July 30th at 9:00 a.m.
 New students are currently being accepted. It was requested that counselors refer
students from express counseling (Drop-in) to the program.
 Project Success Retreat will take place July 2nd.
 If there are any students who want to take English 82 or Math 10a in the summer
there are still spaces available for registration.
SSTARS - Jeanette Magee
 The last Advisory Committee Meeting for the year took place.
 A successful fundraiser took place in January.
 The newsletter is in the process of being completed for the 2007-08 year.
 A new brochure was created which Ruth Banda Ralph worked very hard to
complete
 The 2008-09 new co-chairs are Harold Tyler and Nancy Fong.
 Three scholarships were awarded through the fundraiser for a total of five
scholarships this year. Elaine Moore’s, Colteal Thomas scholarship was awarded
under SSTARS.
Special Resource Center - Cristina Pajo
 There is an increase in the number of new students.
 There are orientations available for students to attend.
Transfer Center - Sue Oda-Omori
 UC application workshops will begin in July for students who want to apply for
the winter quarter.
 Only a few universities will be open for the winter quarter. UC Santa Barbara will
not be accepting applications for the winter quarter.
 UC Santa Cruz, UC Riverside, UC Merced, and UCLA School of Engineering
will open for the winter quarter. UC Irvine has not made an announcement as of
yet. The filing period is July 1st thru July 30th.
 Writing Personal Statement workshops will begin in July.
 Cal State Application workshops will begin in August for students that will be
applying for spring 2009.
 5th Annual Transfer Conference will be October 17th.
 Transfer Center advisors and Van Nguyen will be working on the Career Expo
this year.
 Transfer Day Fair will be on October 7th.
 Planning Retreat is on July 24th.
 In the process of preparing all the transfer guides and “Save the Date” flyer for
Transfer Conference for New Student Welcome Day.
 One transfer guide will be done for the whole year. One events brochure will be
done separately. All the support programs need to indicate how many transfer
guides they would like to have for the year.
 The summer university fair will be held tomorrow on the Library Lawn.

SCA Council - Bill Cooper
 The next meeting will be held on July 8th. Chris Jeffries is the back up for the
meetings.
 This meeting gives the updates of everything that is going on in Dr. Nishime’s
area.
Athletic Program - Chris Jeffries
 Orientations have taken place for Women’s Basketball, Men’s Basketball, and
Football.
 Last years football team received 30 Division I scholarships which is the highest
in the country.
 8 students have transferred, 10 will transfer by the end of spring, and 13 are
pending due to summer grades. These students will be transferring throughout the
country.
Matriculation - Maribel Hernandez
 The Matriculation orientations will be scheduled two to three times a day.
 SEP workshops will begin July 7th. Four workshops will be scheduled for students
who are in SEP I.
 SEP I is for students who have never attended a SEP workshop.
 SEP II workshops are being piloted this year for student who have already
completed SEP I to prevent repetitive information. Stay in College and Budget
your Money, Minimize your Stress, Maximize your Learning, Apply your
Strengths to Achieve College Success True Colors, and What Next if I Am
Dismissed are the SEP II workshop titles. The Stay in College and Budget Your
Money workshop will be presented by a representative from Kinecta Federal
Credit Union.
 New student Welcome Day flyers were created to advertise the event.
 There were about 800 students at last year’s New Student Welcome Day.
