Strategic purpose statement
The purpose of this qualification is to provide experienced
ayurvedic practitioners to the complementary health sector who
are able to interpret and apply ayurvedic diagnostic and
therapeutic principles to treat a wide range of disease states.
This qualification is suited to those looking to provide specialised
ayurvedic healthcare and who wish to provide leadership in
clinical practice and in the promotion of complementary health in
the wider community.

Education pathway
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

diagnose complex disease states using ayurvedic diagnostic
principles;

create and evaluate healthcare strategies for clients using
ayurvedic therapeutic principles;

prepare and dispense ayurvedic herbal formulations to
manage client health care concerns;
-
provide and evaluate specialised ayurvedic remedial
therapies to treat a range of disease states;
-
provide leadership to staff and clients through clinical
practice and the wider community through the demonstration
of ayurvedic principles in professional practice.
Graduates can build on from the New Zealand Diploma in
Ayurvedic Health Management (Level 5) [Ref: 2983].
The diploma has no further direct educational pathways in New
Zealand in relation to ayurvedic studies.

Graduates of this qualification will have the skills and knowledge
to develop and provide ayurvedic healthcare to the community
either in private practice or in an integrated healthcare

environment, collaborating with allopathic and other
complementary health practitioners.
Qualification specifications
Qualification award
This qualification may be awarded by any education organisation
accredited under section 250 of the Education Act 1989 to deliver
a programme leading to the award of this qualification.
The formal document certifying the award of this qualification will
display the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF) logo
and may also include the name or logo of the awarding body.
Evidence requirements for
assuring consistency
All Tertiary Education Organisations (TEOs) either arranging
training or delivering programmes that lead to the award of the
qualification are required to participate in a consistency review
scheduled by NZQA.
Portfolios of evidence are expected to be based on selfassessment activities, and will include:

Portfolio of student work.

Internal and external moderation of assessment tasks.
