COURSE DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE:
This course is the first part of the study of human anatomy and physiology that
will be completed in Biology 2402. It is designed for students entering health
related fields such as Nursing. In lecture and lab we will study the systems of the
human body. How they interact, and how they are regulated to maintain life and
homeostasis. In this course we study the following systems: Integumentary,
skeletal, muscular, nervous, and endocrine. In addition, we study basic
chemistry, cells, and tissues of the body.
GENERAL GUIDELINES:
1.
No absences. Each student is expected to be in class as attendance will
be taken. Students with 4 or more unexcused absences will be subjected
to administrative withdrawal from this course.
2.
Participation in lab activities is expected and required.
3.
Each student is responsible for the material covered in lecture, in the

circumstances that may limit your ability to fully perform all the work in this
class.
9.
All pagers and cellular phones must be turned-off during class sessions.
EVALUATION:
Four lecture exams and one comprehensive final will be conducted during the
term to evaluate lecture materials and two laboratory practicals will be conducted
during the term to evaluate lab materials and activities. The format of the lecture
exams will be multiple choice, true or false, fill-in-the-blank and matching
questions. The format of laboratory exams will be fill-in-the-blank questions.
