Guests: Greg Stevens Review of the minutes: March 12, 2012 minutes approved with corrections Chair’s Report: The new General Education bill has passed through the Senate and preparations for its implementation should be underway. This may be the last meeting of the semester unless unexpected business arises. UAC currently has five new proposals to look at today, but due to the large number of bills currently in the Senate pipeline, it is unlikely these five will make it to the Senate floor this academic year. Committee Reports: Committee on Curriculum and Honors: Department of Chemistry proposes adding a three-credit advanced chemistry laboratory to the B.S. Chemistry, Chemical Biology Emphasis in order for the program to be certified by the American Chemical Society and to keep it consistent with other programs offered by the Department of Chemistry. Approved by UAC. proposes adding a Chemical Biology track to the Honors B.S. Chemistry program due to popularity among students. Approved by UAC. Program in Globalization Studies proposes the creation of a Minor in Globalization Studies due to demand among students. Approved by UAC. Department of Women’s Studies proposes restructuring the Women’s Studies. Approved by UAC. Informatics Department Due to student interest, the Informatics Department proposes the addition of a cognate option to the Minor in Informatics for students who are majoring in Journalism. Approved by UAC. Informatics Department proposes the addition of ICSI 105 as an alternative to ICSI 201 in both the faculty-initiated major in Financial Market Regulation and the minor in Financial Market Regulation.
