Curriculum Committee Meeting Minutes
November 24, 2009 and December 15, 2009

Proposals / Requests Reviewed:
1. Sally Whitten discussed the institutional commitment to core competencies. She
requested that the Curriculum Committee add to the Request for Review form, a question
addressing core competencies within new courses.
2. The committee reviewed and approved four revisions to Diplomas under the CTI
curriculum:





.NET Software Development, Diploma
SQL Server Administration, Diploma
JAVA Software Development, Diploma
Oracle Administration, Diploma
Cyber Crime & Digital Forensics, Diploma
3. The committee reviewed and approved one new Diplomas under the CTI curriculum:

CTI with an Emphasis in Cyber Crime and IS Security
4. The committee reviewed and approved six Criminal Justice certificates:






Criminal Justice Technology Certificate with a focus on the Essential Elements of
the Criminal Justice System (C55180-C3),
Criminal Justice Technology Certificate, Essentials of Police Operations (C55180C4),
Criminal Justice Technology Certificate, Courts and the Law (C55180-C5),
Criminal Justice Technology Certificate, Corrections (C55180-C6),
Criminal Justice Technology Certificate, Criminal Justice and Special Populations
(C55180-C7)
Criminal Justice Technology Certificate, Crime Scene and Criminal Investigations

5. The committee reviewed and did not approve Program of Study changes to the Criminal
Justice curriculum.
6. The committee reviewed and approved the request to add a pre-requisite to CIS 110,
Introduction to Computers.
7. The committee reviewed and approved requests to add a pre-requisite to these Behavior
and Social Science courses:






SOC 213, Sociology of the Family
POL 120, American Government
HIS 111, World Civilizations I
HIS 112, World Civilizations II
ANT 210, General Anthropology
PSY 150, General Psychology
8. The committee reviewed and approved requests from the Heavy Equipment and
Transport Technology:


Curriculum standard change, to add RCT, Race Car Technology pre-fix.
Program of Study change, to add RCT 231, Race Car TIG Welding as an either or for
WLD 112, Basic Welding Processes.
9. The committee reviewed and approved a request to add a pre-requisite to MEC 250,
Statistics and Strengths of Materials.
10. The committee reviewed and approved two Program of Study change requests from
Surgical Technology:


To remove ECO 151, Survey of Economics and BUS 137, Management
To add MED 121, Medical Terminology.
11. The committee reviewed and approved for Simulation and Game Development
curriculum:
 Revisions to thirteen current certificate
 Simulation and Game Development Certificate with a Specialization in SG
Character Development
 Simulation and Game Development Certificate with a Specialization in SG 3D
Animation
 Simulation and Game Development Certificate with a Specialization in SGD
Management
 Simulation and Game Development Certificate with a Specialization in
Physically-Based Modeling

Pre-requisite changes for: SGD 124, MMO Programming, SGD 126, SG Engine
Design, SGD 285, SG Software Engineering and SGD 289, SGD Project

Four new Diplomas:

Modeling
Programming
12. At a special called Curriculum Committee meeting on December 15, 2010 the committee
reviewed and approved a new Curriculum: Mechatronics Engineering Technology.
Next meeting will be January 24, 2010 at 2:00.
