Creative Project #2: Fundamentals of Visual Art

Select a traditional, representational 2D artwork from the book. This artwork will be the
inspiration for your project.
Study the original image, looking for the major areas of color, line, movement, etc.
On your own paper, create a 2D artwork that simplifies the original piece you chose into a nonobjective image.
Requirements for the visual component:



Use an approximately 12 x 15 inch piece of paper.
Your final artwork must be nonobjective.
Incorporate at least 5 formal elements of art:
Line
Shape
Overlapping
Light/Shading
Color
Texture
Pattern
Rhythm
Time/motion
Requirements for the written component:



Identify which artwork you chose from the book.
List which formal elements you used from the above list in your piece and describe
specifically where and how you used each one.
This written portion must be typed.
Your grade will be based on your inclusion of the above criteria, timeliness, creativity and
presentation.
