ASO is sending two students and an adviser to the Student Senate of California Community Colleges
General Assembly 11/14/14-11/16/14. The Student Senate for California Community Colleges hosts
two general assemblies each year. These general assemblies are an invitation to all California
Community College student governments to represent their students in driving the state-wide
student organization as a whole. The general assemblies also provide a critically important forum
for discussion and debate on state-wide issues, multi-district challenges, and for sharing ideas for
how to make the community college system a better place.
SDO has held some meetings to discuss 2015 Commencement. It will be held on the Softball field
again.
The November SDO Social Justice Event will be held on 11/25/14 at 1pm. Reginald Fagan, President
of Horticulture Club will be holding a seminar on Food Systems. Various aspects of community food
assessment will be discussed. A community food assessment is a collaborative process that
examines a broad-range of food related issues and resources in order to improve local food
systems. A food assessment sets the ground work for food system change that promotes food
security; a situation in which ALL people have access to food that is safe, nutritious, culturally
appropriate, and affordable. We hope to give the ECC family an education about issues surrounding
the food industry.
ASO has started planning this semesters Final’s Madness which will be held in the East Lounge,
Activity Center from 9pm-12am on 12/8/14-12/11/14.
