On Monday, March 21, 2016 after weekend maintenance, Accuplacer testing was affected by the Accuplacer system updates. The Testing Center is currently having the following problems with Accuplacer: o In particular, there have been issues with printing reports. o Some students were not able to see the full question and/or answers. Partial questions were showing and some answers were missing in the English and Math test. o When the students entered their personal information, the system did not allow the students to go to the next page, and the Testing staff had to re-start the students over and over. Foster & Kinship Education & Adult Education Liaising The Guardian Scholars Program has been doing a great job serving current and former foster youth enrolled at El Camino College since October 2015. Over fifty students have been served thus far with student support services through the Guardian Scholars Program located in the RISE Center in the Student Services Center. Members of the Pritzker Family Foundation which donated $40,000 in December 2015 to the Pritzker Foster Care Initiative which helps fund El Camino College’s Guardian Scholars program met with President Maloney, A. Estwick and Andrea Sala from the Foundation office on Thursday, March 31, 2016. Financial Aid Implementation of the Freeze Date for the 2016-2017 Award Year o Beginning with the 2016-2017 award year, the financial aid office will use the main census date as a freeze date for the purpose of locking in units. Students will be paid for their enrollment status as of the freeze date. o For the fall 2016 semester, the freeze date will be on September 12, 2016. Students will be paid for their enrollment status as of this date and will not be paid for any classes added to their schedule after this date. There will be flyers available at service counter as well as large posters displayed around campus to inform students about this change. Changes will also be updated on El Camino Financial Aid Website. Higher One Debit Card Updates o It is anticipated that on Monday, May 16, 2016, Customer Bank will acquire Higher One which will result in a name change. The new name of the company will be Bank Mobile Technology and new name of the disbursement portion of the company will be Bank Mobile Vibe. Page 2 Student Support Services Division Council Newsletter o This will mean that all references to Higher One (e.g. online, brochures, banner, etc.) will need to change once the acquisition has been finalized. Marketing materials will be provided to El Camino College and El Camino College Compton Center. As of April 4, the Financial Aid Office sent e-mail blast to 2016/2017 financial aid applicants. Also students can view their 2016/2017 financial aid status on line. Outreach and School Relations There are 5,361 students currently in our Prospective Student Database.
