This week in English Class: **PINK OUT Assembly this Thursday** Students must pay a $1 Donation to their 1st hour teacher by tomorrow to attend the assembly on Thursday, which will last from 8:55-10:00am. Donations collected will be given to the Stephenson Cancer Center here in OKC at the OU Medical Center! Fall athletes will be recognized at the assembly: Volleyball, Softball, Cross Country, and Football! W.O.W. -- Hero/Heroine = one of distinguished courage or ability, admired by brave deeds and noble qualities. *Heroes – From now until the end of the semester, we will be looking at different everyday heroes, as well as meeting some heroes from Greek Mythology, like Odysseus, our cunning and brave hero from “The Odyssey.” We looked at Christopher Reeves’ life today – from onscreen superhero (Superman) to a paralytic helping others until his life ended short from complications from his fall from a horse during an equestrian competition. *Benchmark Test and Test Prep” – This is our quarterly test administered to all Moore Public Schools 9th graders. There is nothing to study. Students just need to be prepared by getting plenty of rest, eating a sensible breakfast/lunch, and bringing a pencil to class! *”Divergent” Page2Screen Selection – We are finishing our study on the conflicts and symbolism in “Divergent” this week. We also discussed how Tris is an example of our female “heroine” in this series! *October “Seeing Double” Worksheet – Students will use clues to unscramble words all having two double letters, like “Halloween.” *Jaguar NEWS: **See Athletic information attached. **Yearbook Photo retakes were today. **FREE Tutoring for struggling students! Students who need help in Math and English can get help during our FREE tutoring, overseen by Westmoore faculty! Check the information you receive from the district on how to sign up for a conference time online.
