New Students Applying For Financial Aid (How to apply and what happens after applying for financial aid) 1. Complete an Application for Admission online at www.cccapply.org or wait-in-line SSC 101. Use the exact name and number as it is stated on your social security card. It is the student’s responsibility to keep a current address on file in the Admissions Office at all times. 2. Complete the Math & English Placement Tests at the Assessment & Testing Center (SSC 217). a. The Assessment & Testing Center hours for testing are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Please bring a picture ID (driver’s license, ID card) with you to the Testing Center and know your social security number. 3. Attend a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Workshop. Contact the Financial Aid Office (SSC 215) for available times and dates. 4. Complete the federal application online at www.fafsa.ed.gov for faster processing. The campus library, local library, and the Scholarship Office all provide online access to complete the application. a. Obtain a PIN (personal identification number) for yourself (and one for your parent if you are dependent) at www.pin.edu.gov. Your PIN is your “electronic signature”. Your parent’s PIN is your parent’s “electronic signature”. b. If you do not have a PIN, be sure to print out and sign the signature page. If you are a dependent student, one parent must also sign. OR Mail the paper FAFSA in the envelope provided. If you are a dependent student, at least one parent must also sign. 5. Attend a Financial Aid Orientation (You should bring your Math & English test scores). Please call (310) 660-3493 to reserve a seat. An Educational Plan will be written for you at this orientation. Students that have never attended college or have completed less than 12 units are encouraged to attend this orientation. 6. When all requested information and documents are submitted, you will be assigned an RP date (ready to be reviewed for packaging). Your financial aid files will be reviewed and if no additional information or documents are needed, you will receive an Award Letter. You can also view your Award Letter online by logging in at MyECC. 7. Out-of-State or Out-of-Country Students a. Review the steps regarding FAFSA Processing. b. See the Walk-in Advisor regarding the processing of your financial aid. 7. Apply for a Board of Governor’s Fee Waiver to pay your registration fees. The Fee Waiver application and information sheet are available in the Fall 2007 Schedule (pgs. 11-13). It is also available online. If you have a processed/verified results of the FAFSA (and eligible), you already have a Fee Waiver. Check by logging in at MyECC. READ EVERYTHING.
