understand that any student not maintaining high personal, academic, and behavioral standards both on and off campus may forfeit

Leadership Code of Conduct
Canyon High School is an exemplary school representing high expectations for its programs, faculty, and student
body. In order to maintain this level of excellence, the individual seeking to hold a position of leadership must be
willing to maintain similar high standards in all phases of his or her academic and personal life. As a Canyon High
School student leader, each individual will be accountable to the public as well as the school community.
All students should remember that participation in CHS Student Government (ASB) is a privilege and not a right.
Canyon High School expects a higher standard of conduct from its leaders. Students wishing to pursue a position
of leadership in the school must agree to uphold the following standards:
Academic Standards of Conduct:
A student leader:
 Must be earning a grade point average of 2.0 or higher at the time of application, and maintain it through
the term of office or position.
Personal Standards of Conduct:
A student leader:
 Must reflect honorable personal conduct both in and out of school.
 Must abide by all school and district rules and regulations.
 Must not use or possess illegal drugs, alcohol, or tobacco at any time since all such substances are illegal
for minors.
 Must not violate any law out of school which would result in a legal conviction (i.e. misdemeanor, felony)
Leadership Standards of Conduct:
A student leader:
 Must exhibit behavior in the classroom as well as the school community worthy of being a positive role
model.
 Any further specific requirement or restriction concerning a particular position in Canyon High School
Student Government shall be left to the discretion of the ASB.
Any ASB member who violates one or more of the above standards of conduct will be placed on probationary
status for the remainder of the school year. Such student will be notified in writing of their violation and the
consequences. The parents and the student will be asked to sign the notification and return it to the ASB Director.
The student may be prohibited from attending ASB sponsored activities, if necessary, according to the particular
offense.
Any second offense within the same school year constitutes grounds for removal of the student from his or her
office or position within the Student Government.

To plan and implement all staff-appreciation events.
To organize one staff luncheon each semester.
To ensure that all students and staff are recognized for
outstanding achievement.
 To plan & implement the Renaissance Academic Rally.
 To publicize all athletics events through posters, bulletin
and P.A. announcements.
 To give fair recognition to all Canyon athletics.
 To plan and organize the Powder Puff football game.
 To create backdrop posters for all rallies and other
special events.
 To perform any other artistic duties such as decorations.
 To create window displays.
 To organize at least one charity drive per semester.
 To organize ASB fundraising activities.
 To find and secure sponsorships and donations
throughout the community.
Historian - Duties are:
 To take visual records of the entire school year by
attending all school events.
 To create & put together the ASB scrapbook.
 To keep an adequate supply of photography materials.

Lunchtime Activities - Duties are:
 To instill a sense of Cowboy Pride throughout the
school and encourage school involvement for all
students.
 To plan and implement regular class competitions and
lunchtime activities.
 To organize events with school clubs.
Renaissance Leadership - Duties are:
 To plan and organize the Renaissance Academic Rally.
 To recognize and reward students throughout the year
for academic achievement and improvement.
 To recognize inspirational Staff all year.
On-Campus Publicity - Duties are:
 To ensure that every Canyon High School event is
publicized through the use of posters and other media.
 To keep the ASB office properly stocked at all times
with paints, paper, tape, marquee materials, and other
large media tools.
 To develop new ways to reach the maximum number of
Canyon students and staff.
 Manage Twitter, Instagram, Pintrest, Facebook,
Vines,Youtube
 To develop new ways to reach the maximum number of
Canyon students and staff.




Tech - Duties are:
 To care for and maintain the ASB Tech Supplies.
 To operate the ASB technical equipment at all ASBsponsored events including rallies, lunchtime activities,
and other major-school events.
 To create music needs upon request.
(THIS IS THE MOST DEMANDING AND TIMECONSUMING COMMISSIONER POSITION.)
Video Production - Duties are:
 To learn how to use, care for, maintain, and protect the
ASB video equipment.
 To “make movies that matter,” honoring student
achievement and staff recognition.
 To produce videos for use in rallies, the end-of-the-year
video collection, and other ASB activities as needed.
Rallies - Duties are:
 To plan and implement all assemblies and rallies
throughout the semester.
 To encourage maximum student involvement in rallies.
