Leopard’s Library Letter September 2015 It’s Back to School Time Some things to look forward to with your new Media Center include our website where you can BLOG, take surveys, find out about upcoming events, and use favorite links to even help with school work. There are over 8,500 brand new books! If there are certain books you want to read but we don’t have or books you want me to order, please just let me know. I will keep a list of books that need to be ordered, but that takes time and money, so be patient. In the meantime, I may be able to borrow the book from another library. Remember to keep these books looking new so they will last a L O N G time for others to read! Remember to read books from the Sequoyah list so you can vote for your favorite later in the year and there will be cool events for those that read 3, 5, 10, 13 or more, so pay attention for more details coming soon. Look for contests and other fun activities throughout the year. sworG nreF deR eht erehW DO YOU LOVE FOOTBALL? Score a goal by checking out the display that includes books on your favorite football team and players. Learn more about the Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers or find out how Tom Brady became a quarterback. Who’s Your Media Specialist? Sheryl Johnson comes to you from Moore High School where she taught Oklahoma History and worked with Principal Melanie Smith. Prior to that, she taught for 10 years at Briarwood Elementary. For more information about Mrs. Johnson, visit the Media Center website. ADULT VOLUNTEERS! The Media Center needs YOU! Whether you are a grandparent, parent, or other adult willing to help in the library, please email sheryljohnson@mooreschools.com. The library needs help with shelving books, answering student questions, serving on a committee that would meet once or twice a year, repairing books, etc. Be sure to list day(s) and times available. Thank you! Somewhere in this newsletter is one of Mrs. Johnson’s all-time favorite books to read. If you can find it and decipher it, be one of the first 10 people to introduce yourself and share the answer with her to earn a prize. Alex London, author of Proxy (on the 2016 Sequoyah List), will be at Southridge on October 8 to talk with students during their reading classes! You may buy his book and have it autographed as well as the sequel to Proxy. Remember to get your preorder form in by Oct. 2 to save $$$. Book Fair coming in November! Remember to use book markers to mark your spot rather than bend the pages! © 2007 by Education World®.
