Office of the Vice President Division for Research Presidential Undergraduate Award for Research GENERAL INFORMATION The Presidential Undergraduate Award for Research was established to encourage undergraduate research and scholarship and to recognize the high quality of work being conducted by undergraduate students at the University at Albany. ELIGIBILITY Juniors and seniors who demonstrate outstanding scholastic ability and who are enrolled full time are eligible for the award. Applicants must submit a paper or project in their major field of study, which originated in an upper-level course or independent study under the direction of a UAlbany faculty member. The project or paper must have been initiated and completed within the given timeframe (usually from May of one year to May of the following year). The timeframe is specified on the call for nominations. Applicants must submit a copy of the application (found below) along with their proposal to the Dean of their respective college/school. APPLICATION & SELECTION PROCESS The Office of the Vice President for Research sends the call for nominations directly to the Deans. The call includes the number of awards available. Each college or school will be responsible for selecting the awardees and forwarding the information to the Office of the Vice President for Research by the date specified in the call for nominations. The award certificate is presented at the Undergraduate Research Conference. AWARD SPECIFICATIONS By accepting the award, the recipient gives permission to the University to publish the final report or an abstract of the report.
