Cooperative Extension is the arm of the
University of Georgia that brings
research-based information from the
university to all areas of the state.
Extension Agents in county offices
develop educational programs on
agriculture, environment, community
and economic development, family and
consumer science, and youth
development.
Our mission is to extend lifelong learning
to Georgia citizens through unbiased,
research-based education in agriculture, the
environment, communities, youth and
families.



The Program Development Team
represents current and potential
Extension clientele and is engaged in
both programming and advocacy. It
identifies issues and needs from the
community and helps implement
community programs.

Team members are engaged
throughout the Extension
programming process; therefore, they
are instrumental in:
 needs assessment
 identifying resources
 marketing programs
 evaluating effectiveness of
programs
 building advocacy for
Extension programs
Family and Consumer Science Agents improve the quality of life for
Georgians through programs on financial security, foods and nutrition,
children and families, and housing and home environment.
Networking with others who
share similar interests and
concerns
Playing a role in shaping local
programming efforts that are
important to the community
Helping to gather support for
establishing and extending
educational efforts in
important areas
