Wright State University Student Government Resolution: Campus Woods and Bio Preserve Easement Sponsors: Steve Young, College of Science and Mathematics Senator; Daniel Thomas, President; Patrick White, Graduate Student 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 38 39 40 41 42 43 44 45 Recognizing, That Wright State University Student Government is dedicated to serving the best interests of the entire campus, Observing, That the WSU Campus Woods are integral parts of the Wright State University campus, Further Noting, That the WSU Campus Woods are used every day to enhance the research and academia of Wright State University by Wright State Students and Faculty, Fully Aware, That the Wright State University Master Plan is going to be implemented soon, Deeply Concerned, That the current Wright State University Master Plan may infringe upon the integrity of the WSU Campus Woods, THE WRIGHT STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENT GOVERNMENT, 1. Supports the biological sciences faculty and Campus Woods committee in the efforts of creating a conservation easement for the campus woods and bio preserve; 2. Recommends the easement protect the current extent of the WSU Campus Woods (old growth and new growth) from further clearing, removing, cutting, and any activity that would decrease the biological integrity of the preserve; 3. Recommends the easement ensure students, faculty, and staff who currently use the WSU Campus Woods are allowed to continue their present use without any hindrance; 4. Recommends that future uses with biotic impacts beyond what would be considered normal student use, such as trail improvement or placement of research devices must be approved by the WSU Campus Woods committee prior to use. 5. Recommends the easement be non-expiring. 6.
