WHEREAS, the Wright State University Student government (Sg) Bylaws are
outdated; and
WHEREAS, the scope of activities and interests advocated by Sg has increased, and the
duties of its various committees has changed; and
WHEREAS, the long-term interests of these committees is represented and protected by
their reference in the Sg Bylaws; now, therefore, be it

assembled, that:
(1) Section XIX of the Sg Bylaws be amended to read:

ARTICLE XIX - STANDING COMMITTEES
A. All Student government committees shall:
a. Meet a minimum of once a month.
b. Submit a written report of its deliberations and decisions
once per month to the Chief of Staff.
c. Have the President as an ex-officio member of the
committees.
B. Student Affairs
The Student Government Student Affairs Committee (SAC)
shall:
a. Operate under the auspices of a committee charter. This
charter shall have been approved by the Senate, and any
amendments thereto shall be further approved by a simple
majority vote of the committee.
b. Be chaired by the Director of Student Affairs or designee.
c. Commit to the improvement of the areas of student
affairs, including but not limited to: Parking and
Transportation, Dining Services, Registrar, Bursar,
Financial Aid, and Student Union services.
C. Academic Affairs
The Student Government Academic Affairs Committee
(AAC) shall:
a. Operate under the auspices of a committee charter. This
charter shall have been approved by the Senate, and any
amendments thereto shall have been approved by a simple
majority vote of the committee.
b. Be chaired by the Director of Academic Affairs or
designee.

c. Commit to the improvement of the academic affairs of
students at the University, including but not limited to
general education requirements, commencement, course
evaluations, and the academic calendar.
D. Elections
The Student Government Special Elections Committee
(SEC) shall operate under the auspices of Article XXII of
the Student Government Bylaws and shall:
a. Be chaired by the Chief Justice.
b. Assume responsibility for organizing and administering
all Student Government elections.
c. Inform the student body on national elections.
d. Publicize all elections.
E. Disability Affairs
The Student Government Disability Advisory Board (DAB)
shall:
a. Operate under the auspices of a committee charter that
has been approved by the Senate, and any amendments
thereto shall be approved by a simple majority vote of
the committee.
b. Be chaired by the Director of Disability Affairs or
designee.
c. Commit to the improvement of disability affairs of the
students at the University, including but not limited to:
Office of Disability Services, building and campus
features accessibility, and University inclusion.
F.
Diversity and Inclusion
The Student Government Multicultural Affairs Committee
(MAC) shall:
a. Operate under the auspices of a charter that has been
approved by the Senate, and any amendments thereto shall
be approved by a simple majority vote of the committee.
b. Be chaired by the Director of Diversity Affairs or
designee.
c. Commit to the improvement of diversity, inclusion, and
multicultural affairs issues on campus.
G. Special Funding
The Special Funding Committee (SFC) shall:
a. Operate under a charter that has been approved by the
Senate and the House of Representatives, and any
amendments thereto may be approved by a simple
majority vote of the House of Representatives.
b. Consist of five (5) members, each appointed by the
Speaker of the House or designee, and one (1) alternate
member.
c. Be chaired by the Assistant Speaker of the House of
Representatives.
d. Members of SFC shall serve one year terms beginning
September 1, unless they are nominated to fill an

existing vacancy, in which case their tenure shall end at
the conclusion of the term which is being filled. There
are no term limits.
e. The chairperson shall arrange and moderate SFC
meetings.
f. The chairperson shall monitor SFC funding resources,
giving SFC members, the Chief of Staff, House, and
Senate a monthly financial report.
g. The chairperson shall advise the Executive Board of
any SFC members who are chronically absent or who
do not contribute to SFC. The chairperson shall consult
with all the SFC members before conferring with the
Executive Board on the dismissal of any SFC member.
The chairperson shall take attendance at each SFC
meeting.
h. The chairperson may delegate any of these
responsibilities to any other SFC member.
i. Members of SFC should not have, or should resolve,
any conflict of interest between membership on SFC
and membership in any organization that requests an
allocation from SFC. When a conflict is observed, the
SFC shall inform the Executive Board.
j. Student organizations that wish to receive funding from
SFC must have voting rights in the House.
